Susan Antak wins education advocate award

ABCDE AwardSusan Antak, a faculty mentor for UFV’s Teacher Education program, recently received the Association of BC Deans of Education’s award for being an education advocate.

Antak recently retired from active school leadership in the Abbotsford School District. She has a long record of excellence in elementary and secondary school leadership, and is well-known for her exceptional work with new immigrant communities, parents, and children. Antak has developed and supported community involvements in education decision making, she has initiated new mentoring activities for teachers, and she now plays an active role in helping to prepare teacher candidates enrolled in the University of the Fraser Valley’s Teacher Education program.

A faculty mentor supervises and mentors UFV teacher candidates when they are in the schools. Winners of the ABCDE awards each receive an engraved plaque and a cheque for $500.
