London International Youth Science Forum — Etienne Dreyer’s student experience

The Faculty of Science has sponsored a student to participate in the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) from July 23 to Aug 6.

The London International Youth Science Forum is a two-week residential event held at Imperial College London, with lectures and demonstrations from leading scientists, and visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions and organizations, including world-class laboratories and universities.

LIYSF attracts over 350 of the world’s leading young scientists aged 17-21 years old from more than 60 participating countries. There is an active social calendar with events designed to enable those from around the world to learn about different cultures. The scope of LIYSF extends further than broadening scientific understanding to engage students in education on other cultures and develop lasting, international friendships.

During the forum, physics student Etienne Dreyer will be tweeting and writing on the Science blog page. Etienne’s official invitation is below:
“The LIYSF is sure to be a fascinating ‘tour de science’ geared especially to the perspective of young scientists. With its arsenal of world-class science lectures, lab tours, and multicultural interaction, this two week forum will leave an impact on its participants and the way they pursue science in their communities around the globe. As a UFV student in your locale, I invite you to follow me on Twitter (@DreyerEtienne) and the official blog page http://blogs.ufv.ca/science/category/trips/science-in-london/ to keep up with the 2014 programme in London and support the vision for young science!”
